Eskom has confirmed that Stage 2 loadshedding will be implemented during evening peak hours from Tuesday, May 13, to Thursday, May 15, 2025, across South Africa. This decision, according to Eskom, is a response to a strained power system following the delayed return of 3 120MW of generation capacity and an additional unplanned loss of 1 385MW due to breakdowns.

Affected areas in the District include Morokweng, Huhudi, Taung, and Stella, all of which have published confirmed loadshedding schedules. Communities in these areas are experiencing blackouts in the early evening hours under Stage 2 conditions. In contrast, other towns like Ganyesa and Ipelegeng have reported no planned outages for today.

According to Eskom, this temporary measure is part of efforts to preserve energy during working-day peaks as the utility emerges from an intensive maintenance cycle. Despite these setbacks, Eskom has highlighted operational progress and lower overall levels of loadshedding this winter compared to the previous year.

“We are determined to build on the progress already achieved. The delays in returning units are being addressed with urgency by senior leadership,” said Eskom Group Chief Executive Dan Marokane.

As the region continues to face loadshedding, residents are urged to remain prepared, conserve energy where possible, and keep abreast of their local schedules via the EskomSePush app or Eskom Direct updates.

The Vryburg Independent Post will continue to monitor developments and keep the community informed of changes.
